is pleased to promote SBA’s
National Small Business Week
Washington, DC
taking place
Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16, 2014
National Small Business Week gives us a chance to reflect on the role of entrepreneurs and small businesses in America. They are the engine of our economy and part of our heritage. At each of SBA’s NSBW events, there will be a series of panels and breakouts aimed at equipping small business suppliers to break into commercial and federal supply chains.
This year’s National Small Business Week will consist of a full week of events around the country:
- Monday, May 12th: San Francisco, California
- Tuesday, May 13th: Kansas City, Missouri
- Wednesday, May 14th: Online events
- Thursday, May 15th: Boston, Massachusetts
- Thursday and Friday, May 15th- 16th: Washington, DC
These events will include educational panels and workshops. On Friday, May 16, SBA will present the National Small Business week awards to winners from across the United States including the announcement of the National Small Business Person of the Year.
All events will be live streamed at www.sba.gov/smallbusinessweek. Hashtag

SBA is offering the opportunity for both government and private-sector entities to participate in matchmaking meetings as buyers at no cost. SBA anticipates that hundreds of small businesses from across the country will be participating in each of these matchmaking events. Space remains on May 13th in Kansas City and May 16th in Washington, DC, but time is running out for matchmaking.
View SBA National Small Business Week 2014- Washington, DC Schedule of Events.
Matchmaking meetings are short (less than 10 minutes) pre-set meetings between small businesses and government buyers/prime suppliers/large companies with purchasing opportunities available for small businesses. These meetings are designed for the small business to introduce their capabilities to the potential buyer. Meetings are determined through a matchmaking vendor that aligns a buyer’s opportunities to the skill sets of small businesses that register as being interested in matchmaking.
Matchmaking slots are first-come, first-serve, and limited spots remain open. To register as a buyer for Kansas City or Washington, DC, please visit SBA Small Business Week and follow the link to the appropriate city.
If you have any questions or difficulty registering, please contact John Spears at john.spears@sba.gov.
