UBS Elevating Entrepreneurs Sm. Bus. Advisory Program

The Latin Business Association in partnership with the City of Los Angeles is proud to present:

Elevating Entrepreneurs

A UBS Small Business Advisory Program- Los Angeles

Elevating Entrepreneurs is a philanthropic initiative between UBS and Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa’s Office of Economic & Business Policy (OEBP). The program provides entrepreneurs, who currently run high-growth companies with significant potential for job creation, with strategic financial and business counseling tailored to their individual needs. By expanding their knowledge and skill sets, Elevating Entrepreneurs aims to contribute not only to the success of its participating small businesses, but to the economic revitalization of Los Angeles broadly.

Participants will be paired with a UBS client who is a highly successful entrepreneur in their field, along with an experienced UBS Financial Advisor. Over the course of six months, the mentor teams will meet regularly to develop goals and plans that will help position the company for future success. In addition to one-on-one mentoring, participants will have access to the full resources of UBS, including two workshops focused on addressing the current challenges facing small businesses today.

This program is best suited for entrepreneurs who have already achieved significant success and are looking for advice and counsel on how to take their companies to the next level. Ideally, participating companies will have the following characteristics:

  • $2M+ in annual revenues
  • A track record of growth
  • Minority-owned and/or located in an underserved community
  • Minimum of 3+ years of operation
  • Good credit standing with a previous or existing business banking relationship
  • Please note, participating entrepreneurs must be willing to share current business plans and finances with their mentors and be open to hearing new ideas and perspectives. To that end, all parties involved in the program are required to sign confidentiality agreements.

    Over the course of 6 months, participants will have an opportunity to:

  • Meet with industry influencers and major decision makers in both the private and public sectors;
  • Leverage the resources and expertise of UBS, including access to senior leaders in marketing, operations, human resources, investment banking and other business-critical roles;
  • Participate in two UBS sponsored workshops and two UBS-sponsored dinners;
  • Engage in public relations efforts, including press releases, social media and news pitches with leading publications.

    To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be willing to commit to the following:

  • A minimum of one, hour-long monthly meeting with your mentor team;
  • Monthly check-in calls with UBS program leaders and the OEBP;
  • Attending all five UBS events, including a meet and greet with UBS representatives (5/1 or 5/2), kick-off dinner event (5/30), two breakfast workshops (7/18 & 9/20) and a closing dinner (12/3);
  • Sharing financial information and all necessary company documents with mentors;
  • Giving the time and energy to build a relationship with your mentors and be open to change – the more effort the entrepreneurs put in, the more they gain from this program.
