FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KTLK AM 1150, Los Angeles Adds Local Talk to PM Commute on Progressive Outlet
Los Angeles, California- January 2012- LBA Corporate and Media Partner Clear Channel announced the creation of a new bi-lingual radio program, The David Cruz Show, scheduled to premiere airing Monday, January 16th.
Slated to host the new talk program is former KNBC-TV anchor David Cruz, currently President and Executive of his own firm BrightFlash Media, also an LBA Media Partner Company, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Latin Business Association.
Clear Channel’s position is that their selection of David Cruz for the 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm show gives their progressive talk outlet, KTLK, a high-profile Hispanic broadcaster on the staff and the ability to address Los Angeles issues in drive time. Clear Channel- Los Angeles president Greg Ashlock states, “This is a fresh new look at Southern California through the eyes of a well-known, veteran network television and radio journalist very familiar with the Latino community in the nation’s second largest market.”
Local Hispanic organizations are quick to praise the move. Approval from two such organizations – the Latin Business Association and the Latino Institute for Corporate Inclusion– is included in Clear Channel’s release announcing the move. Cruz’ program bumps WSJRN’s “Daily Wrap with Michael Castner” from the PM drive slot.
Scheduled to appear on the program’s first airing is Ruben Guerra, Chairman and CEO of the Latin Business Association and Aubrey Stone, President of the California Black Chamber of Commerce.
Given Monday is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the areas of discussion will include:
- The Black-Brown Experience in Los Angeles: The Common Ground and The Differences
- The Rate of Progress, and Competition between the African American and Hispanic Communities (on the latter: is it myth, or fact?)
- The Successes and Failures: The State of South Los Angeles, Compton, Watts and other LA Communities
- The Path Forward: Is the California Black Chambers/LBA Partnership Effort a Template of the Future? (and if so, how and why?)
And now, in addition to its slot weekdays, 3-6PM on KTLK AM1150, the David Cruz Show is also on 6-8PM, Sundays on KFI AM640!
