LBA Media-Partner LATINA Style Magazine is the premier magazine that addresses the needs of the Latina professional and business owner. 2011 marks the 17th year of publication, during which time LATINA Style Magazine has become recognized as the most influential publication reaching the contemporary Hispanic woman.
LATINA Style blazed a trail in 1994 with its launching of the first national magazine addressing the issues and concerns of the contemporary Latina professional workingwoman and Latina business owner in the United States. LATINA Style Magazine now boasts a national circulation of 150,000 and a readership of nearly 600,000.
LATINA Style is unique in having the ability of reaching both the experienced professional as well as the young Latina first entering the workforce. The culturally sensitive editorial environment fostered by LATINA Style showcases Latina achievement in virtually all areas which impact the quality of life which include business, science, civic affairs, education, entertainment, sports and the arts. The LATINA Style 50 Report—a comprehensive survey and evaluation of nearly 600 U.S. companies and their policies and practices pertaining to American Latinas— identifies and highlights the nation’s fifty best companies for Latinas to work for. It has become the most respected and prestigious analysis of the corporate-American effort to promote diversity and career opportunities for Hispanic women.The first LATINA Style 50 Report Awards presentation was held in 1998 at the residence of the Vice President in Washington, D.C., with all others since then hosted at the White House. The LATINA Style 50 Report Awards are hosted under the aegis of the U.S. Secretary of Labor.
The LATINA Style Business Series—an interactive forum bringing together Latina business owners with representatives of key corporations and government agencies—is the most successful business development program for Latina entrepreneurs in the country. Launched with the assistance of the U.S. Small Business Administration in 1998, This program provides a unique environment wherein Latina business owners may learn everything from how to start a business to making an existing one more successful, and corporations can recruit potential suppliers. It has been showcased on NBC, ABC, Telemundo, CNN, and featured in the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The Dallas Morning News and The New York Times. Over 28,000 Latina business owners have participated in this program in over 85 cities nationwide, with new cities scheduled for 2011.
The National LATINA Symposium (NLS)—launched in conjunction with the 10th anniversary celebration of LATINA Style—assembles the largest gathering of Latina leaders in the nation. Its objective is to determine the status of the nation’s Latina workingwoman through round-table and panel discussions, as well as through in-depth surveys and commentaries. Topics for discussion include career development, business opportunities, family and family-issues, child development, cultural sensitivity, and political and civic responsibility.
The NLS Distinguished Military Service Awards Luncheon—an integral part of Hispanic Heritage Month activities in the Nation’s capital in Washington, D.C.— honors outstanding women serving in the Armed Forces. Awardees are honored for their service to our country, leadership, accomplishments and commitment to building a strong community.
